Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef (lean works best)
  • 3 cups broccoli florets (fresh or frozen)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated (optional but highly recommended)
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water (slurry)
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil or vegetable oil
  • 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional for heat)
  • Sesame seeds and sliced green onions for garnish
  • Cooked rice or noodles for serving

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spoon. Cook until browned and fully cooked through, about 5–6 minutes. Drain excess fat if needed.
  2. Push the beef to the side and add the remaining oil. Toss in the broccoli florets and sauté for 3–4 minutes until bright green and slightly tender.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, minced garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes. Pour this mixture into the skillet, stirring to coat everything evenly.
  4. Add the cornstarch slurry to the skillet, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and broccoli, about 2 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat, sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions, and serve hot over rice or noodles.

Notes

  • Use fresh garlic for the most flavorful sauce.
