A moist and fluffy vanilla birthday cake with creamy buttercream frosting, perfect for any celebration.
Ingredients

- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- Buttercream frosting (for decorating)
- Sprinkles (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla.
- Alternately add dry ingredients and combined buttermilk & milk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with dry ingredients.
- Divide batter evenly between pans and bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool cakes in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
- Frost with buttercream and decorate with sprinkles as desired.
Notes
- You can color the frosting with food coloring for a fun touch.
- Cakes can be made a day in advance and stored covered at room temperature.
